MEET OUR DESIGNER SARA ULLVETTER

For Stockholm-based furniture designer Sara Ullvetter, one of the essential functions of furniture is to create an emotional response in its users. While her works are characterized by a clear language of form, her philosophy toward creation paves the way for shapes with clarity and refinement. Photographed in her studio to delve into her practice and learn more about her design process.

Moving around in the studio, we spot various prototypes and models of her creations. We see two versions of the Side by Side Table, an elegant lounge table featuring in walnut that poetically plays with round shapes. The tables stand in dialogue with the Spatial vase right next to them: A minimalist vase consisting of a delicate cylinder like form.

We spot a round shape peeking out from the back of the room. By its distinctive form, we recognize it as part of the Unity dining table, one of the studio’s latest creations. Its clean and balanced character still communicates elegance. It is the perfect example of how soft and emotional design can be straightforward and without frills.

She established her Stockholm studio in 2022.

I always try to approach a new project with an open mind. I gravitate towards minimalism and love natural materials, such as wood and marble. Inspiration comes from the simplicity of Nordic landscapes and the intricate details found in traditional craftsmanship.

For me, design is about eliminating excess and focusing on essential forms. It is about rigorous attention to details and carefully selecting the right materials. I want to create serene furniture that are soft and emotional, but also can stand the test of time.
